Juan Pablo Baraona is one of the founding partners of the Firm (2003). Mr. Baraona’s practice is concentrated on corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, joint ventures and associations, structured finance and restructuring deals. He has been involved in many high-profile matters that include cross-border transactions, such as securitizations, takeovers (including advise to buyers and targets), financings, etc. Mr. Baraona significant representations have included transactions in all areas and industries, such as forestry, agriculture, retail, banking, energy, logistics, telecommunications, health industry, shipping, etc. Mr. Baraona is a graduate of the Law School of the Universidad de Chile where he received his LL.B in 1989 and was admitted in 1992. Mr. Baraona also obtained a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy at the Fletcher School in Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, Boston, Massachusetts (1996). During 1996 and 1997 Mr. Baraona worked at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley and McCloy (New York), where he was a member of the International Capital Markets Group, participating in various complex cross-border transactions, advising issuers and underwriters, including private placements, 144A/Regulations S bond issues, securitizations, etc. Mr. Baraona has been a Professor of Economics and Corporate Finance at the Law School of the Universidad de Chile.
